Our mission is to nurture both the hearts and minds of our students, inspiring a lifelong love of learning and laying the groundwork for a bright and fulfilling future. Guided by our core values - joy and wonder, a love of learning, a warm and supportive community, independence, and courtesy - we provide a space where each child can truly thrive. In partnership with our close- knit family community, we foster curiosity, compassion, and self-reliance, building a strong foundation for confident, compassionate, and lifelong learners.
Our legacy of learning since 1981
What began as a shared dream and a bond of friendship became a reality when Carla Perry and her dear friend and colleague decided to open their own Montessori school in Millbrae. After years of teaching together in various preschools, they envisioned a place where children could thrive in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
In October 1981, their dream took shape at the former Glen Oaks Elementary School campus, where they officially opened Millbrae Montessori School. In those early days, many of the Montessori materials were lovingly handmade in their garage. The school started with one cozy classroom and just three students- one of whom was Carla's daughter. From these humble beginnings, a lasting legacy of learning and care began to grow.
Since its founding, Millbrae Montessori School has continuously adapted to meet the needs of families while establishing itself as an integral part of the Millbrae community. Over the years, Carla partnered with three colleagues, and in 2004, her daughter, Nicholle Perry, became her final and lasting partner.
In 2023, Millbrae Montessori School expanded to a second location at the newly constructed Millbrae Recreation Center. This new site is led by Nicholle Perry, Carla's daughter, who has been a part of Millbrae Montessori since the beginning.
We sincerly thank our parents for their unwavering support, trust, and encouragement throughout the years. Your partnership has been instrumental in our journey, and we wouldn't be where we are today without you. We are also deeply grateful for our students and feel truly blessed to be part of their preschool years.
Children cultivate a lifelong love of learning through independent exploration and hands-on experience. Every aspect of our enviroment - from the throughtfully designed classrooms to the engaging shared spaces and educational materials - encourages active participation and sparks curiousity. By honoring each child’s unique interests and ideas, we nuture thier natural fascination with the world around them. Following this child is at the heart of our philosophy, as we believe this approach fosters joy and fulfillment in their earliest school experiences, creating a strong and lasting foundation for a lifetime of learning.
